More than 22,000 people enjoyed the sights and scenery of this year’s Seymour Alternative Farming Expo.
Held over three days from February 15 to 17, guests were treated to a weekend of perfect weather, with 500 exciting and innovative exhibitors on show.
McPherson Media Group events manager Susie Filleti said 2019 had proved to be an exceptional year for the expo.
“Every year we have new exhibitors and innovative products as well as many returning favourites,” she said.
“The brumbies were a very popular addition to the expo with many visitors attending the talks in the Learning Hub and watching the versatility demonstrations on the oval… it was a great chance for visitors to talk to breeders and learn about the requirements of all the different animals.”
Ms Filleti said talks in the Learning Hub and farm lectures, as well as demonstrations in the Country Kitchen and Butcher Shop, attracted great crowds across the three days.
This year’s expo was the last appearance for butcher Bob Dewar, who presented one demonstration each day, showcasing how to turn cheaper cuts of meat into satisfying meals.
“Another favourite was James Mele, from The Meatroom, who shared some of the secrets to making sausages and salami,” Ms Filleti said.
While food was a hit once again this year, the working dogs, Flipping Disc Dogz, drone racing and whip-cracking championships provided some added entertainment for people of all ages.
“Lots of people made the most of an opportunity to learn how to fly a drone and participate in drone racing,” Ms Filleti said.
“Every visitor saw something to interest and entertain them — and we look forward to doing it all again next year, even better.”
