Together with the Cobram Courier and the Pastoral Times the Southern Riverina News became part of the McPherson Media Group in 1988.

As its names suggests, the Southern Riverina News covers the rich Southern Riverina region of NSW. The SRN, as it is affectionately known, is published weekly and enjoys strong community support by ensuring local issues, events and activities are covered in its pages.

The headquarters of the Southern Riverina News is at Finley, located just 20 minutes drive from the Victorian border. Geographically Finley is an interstate link, at the junction of the busy Newell and Riverine Highways and only a three hour drive from Melbourne. Agricultural production in the region includes cereal crops, oilseeds, vegetables, pastures, citrus and fruits, plus the dairy industry.

One of Finley’s main strengths comes from its excellent irrigation system, which has enabled the region to become one of the great rice growing areas of Australia.
